Cemetery

The first recorded funerals in St John's cemetery were performed by the Rev'd William Wood from Pennant Hills.

PIONEERS at PEACE, by Jill Lyons, published by Spurwood Press in 1994, tells the story of this historic cemetery.

Although some burial sites are still available, the remaining space in the cemetery is limited. Enquiries regarding the availability of plots may be made to the Parish Secretary.

Grave Sites

A small number of Cemetery plots is available at a price of $2750.00 GST inclusive

Columbarium

Location

The Columbarium is located at the rear of the Church, forming a wall between the Church grounds and the Cemetery.

Enquiries

All arrangements concerning the Columbarium are handled by the Parish Secretary, who may be contacted at the Parish Office.

Niches

Niches may be purchased at the time of bereavement or in advance, especially where family grouping is desired. The secretary will be pleased to advise of available niches. To download a niche form please click here.

Plaques

A bronze plaque of standard size and design is affixed to the Wall over the niche and will be inscribed in accordance with family wishes. Some suggested inscriptions are included for your guidance.

Ashes

The Funeral Director should be advised by the family to arrange the transfer of ashes to St John's for the attention of the Parish Secretary, to enable placement in the Columbarium to proceed.

Memorial Service

For those who desire it, the Rector will conduct a Memorial Service. Please contact the Parish Secretary to make arrangements for this service.

Charges

Niches vary in price, depending on the location in the Wall.

Download or print schedule of Columbarium charges, including fees for transferring niches from the Old Wall to the New Wall.

Plaques, including inscription and installation are $400 in bronze with raised lettering, or $350 in brass chemically bronzed. Prices are GST inclusive.

Payment

Payment for niches should be made at the time of reservation. A receipt will then be issued. Payment for plaques may be made at the time of reservation of niche, or, in the case of a reservation being made for the future, at the time when the required inscription are given to the secretary.

On Completion

When all arrangements are finalised and the plaque has been attached to the Wall, a letter of confirmation will be sent to the nominated person.
